A community group has been established for roundtable discussions with Park City staff to reflect on the environmental and economic issues created by Park City’s robust mining history.  The City continues to proactively mitigate potential impacts on human health, environmental, and economic factors and is gathering input from the group to help ensure current issues and needs are being addressed. These discussions will inform input and recommendations for the City Council to be presented during a future Work Session.

The roundtable discussions will:

  • Explore relevant public policy, outreach, and education
  • Consider a framework for revised residential soil assistance programs
  • Focus on the soil ordinance and potential updates to reflect best practices in recognition of updated State rules on legacy mine waste
  • Evaluate the past recommendations of the 2013 Soil Blue Ribbon Commission’s recommendations
