Re-create 248
Shaping the Future of Transportation in Park City
Project Goals and Outcomes
The Re-create 248 transit study aims to transform the way we travel along SR-248. By understanding the regional nature of traffic and transportation needs, we can develop solutions that help provide mobility choices for local residents, employees, and visitors.
We're committed to:
- Exploring alternative transportation solutions
- Balancing regional travel needs
- Promoting public transportation and park-and-ride facilities
- Using data to inform decision-making
- Improving quality of life for residents
Background
The Re-create 248 transit study builds upon past studies that explored various transportation modes, including bus lanes and high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes for the corridor. We'll integrate past findings with the broader short-range transit plan and the City's park-and-ride strategy to determine transit-forward solutions to move people. Recent investments in corridor infrastructure, such as shoulder reconstructions to accommodate bus service, have been met with positive community feedback, laying a strong foundation for further action, and an investment in high quality transit infrastructure.
Study Need
Increasing regional population and job growth in Summit and Wasatch Counties will continue to impact traffic and transit demand into the future. We are hearing from our community that travel times, transit delays, and congestion are negatively impacting quality of life. A clear and comprehensive plan will be essential for understanding corridor and community needs, identifying solutions that meet those needs, and developing durable decisions that stick. Increasing regional population growth will impact traffic and transit demand, and a well-articulated plan will be key for future decision-making.
