Project Overview

Public Utilities launched a multiple phase project on April 1, 2024, to replace the water main, fire lines, and water services in Main Street. The first system-wide upgrade since 1984, this work is necessary to prevent further pipe breaks and other system failures that are more common in aging infrastructure.

Working with the Historic Park City Alliance (HPCA), the City chose construction timelines that minimize impacts to area businesses and other stakeholders. After a Phase I debrief, the feedback from merchants and stakeholders was to pursue a more accelerated work schedule.

Crews will begin Phase II (Accelerated) Monday, September 30, to install the main line. Details below:

  • April 1-July 1, 2024: Phase I – Heber Avenue to 5th Street
  • September 30-November 20, 2024: Phase II (Accelerated) – main line, 5th Street to the top of Main Street. Minimal to no work in the sidewalk during this phase
  • Spring 2025: Phase II (Continued) – tie-ins, beginning from 5th Street working towards top of Main Street. This phase will require periodic sidewalk closures
  • Spring 2026: Phase III – continue to complete tie-ins and finish work as necessary
  • Summer 2026: Main Street paving (tentatively)
