Temporary Re-Striping of 4th and 5th Streets

In an effort to improve traffic flow while Main Street is closed from Heber Avenue to 5th Street for the Main Street Water Line project, the direction of 4th and 5th street will be adjusted as follows:

  • 5th Street (near the post office) will switch to one-way travel heading east from Main Street towards Swede Alley.
  • 4th Street will switch to one-way travel heading west from Swede Alley towards Main Street.

On July 1, crews will re-stripe 4th and 5th Streets to revert directionality back to typical traffic patterns.

Lower Main Street Water Valve Replacements for July Paving

Beginning Monday, April 29, crews will work to excavate and rebuild 15 water valves along lower Main Street, between 9th Street and Heber Avenue, and one valve located in Heber Avenue. A few details to note:

  • Work will begin Monday, April 29 and is anticipated to take roughly three weeks.
  • This work is preventative maintenance in preparation of the upcoming milling and repaving of lower Main Street scheduled for July.
  • Minimal impacts to traffic are expected during these water valve replacements.
  • There will be a planned water outage at a few individual businesses on lower Main Street. The City’s Public Utilities team will provide at least 48 hours advance notice.
