Park City Maintains Statewide Ranking with its 2024 Municipal Equality Index Score  

Human Rights Campaign Foundation Awards the City the 2nd Highest Rating in Utah  

Park City, Utah – The Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) has released the 2024 Municipal Equality Index (MEI) report, a nationwide evaluation of over 500 cities on how inclusive a municipality's laws, policies, and services are of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people. Park City received a MEI score of 85 out of 100 – the second highest statewide.  

“Our ranking from the HRC confirms that our continuing dedication to equality is being recognized," said Mayor Nann Worel. “I want to thank our community partners, like Summit Pride, for teaming with us to fulfill our commitment to foster a Park City that is inclusive in its policies and practices – and, of course, helping us celebrate Pride Month this year!”

“Over more than a decade, the Municipal Equality Index has worked with cities and towns in all parts of the country, in all fifty states to advance the fight for lived and legal equality,” said HRC president Kelley Robinson in an announcement of this year’s scores. “For LGBTQ+ people, building community isn’t just a phrase, it’s a way of life. In many important ways, local politics shapes our lives just as much as state or national politics does. Mayors and city councilors who take LGBTQ+ inclusion seriously build stronger communities, and in turn their cities thrive.”
