Residents Invited to Weigh-in on Future Main Street Investments
Park City, Utah - Park City Municipal and the Main Street Area Plan Advisory Committee invite you to join the discussion about future investments and improvements to Park City’s Main Street and its immediate vicinity during two drop-in engagement sessions on Tuesday, November 12 at 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Miners Hospital in City Park.
Formed in the spring of 2024, the Main Street Advisory Committee consists of local business leaders and resident stakeholders focused on exploring investment concepts that develop infrastructure for better access, stabilize workforce and business success, and enhance economic vibrancy while preserving Main Street’s historic character.
“I want to thank the Advisory Committee for volunteering their time, offering their unique perspectives, and bringing forward these exciting concepts,” says Mayor Nann Worel. “Now it’s time to hear from the public. Is this the right trajectory? If so, how can we make these ideas better? Even if you think we are off, we want to hear from you. This is the time share your ideas with us.”
The Park City Council will review and discuss the Main Street area concepts during a work session at their meeting on November 7. There will be no public comment at Council, however, interested residents are encouraged to attend and bring their feedback to the November 12th engagement sessions.
Examples of the concepts being brought to the Council include: a proposed redesign of Main Street’s streetscape as car-lite, enhancement of Swede Alley with underground parking, reimagined design, and additional services (i.e. grocery, hotel, daycare, etc.), new designs for Miner’s and 9th Street Parks, possible aerial transit solutions, historic preservation opportunities, and more. The Plan also points to the need for Park and Rides near Highway 40 and SR-248, with high-speed transit for improved future access to these improvements.
Councilmember Ryan Dickey, who has represented the Council during the Committee’s discussions, says he is looking forward to hearing from his fellow councilors and Park City residents. “Continued investment in Main Street is necessary to ensure it remains a vibrant, authentic community asset for residents and visitors alike. The bold ideas that have emerged from the Committee’s work are exciting and I am looking forward continuing the conversation.”
Committee members, City teams, and consultants will be available at the events to share conceptual designs and maps of the plan. Attendees will be able to share feedback on each of the concepts. The Advisory Committee will convene for its final meeting on November 14 following the community engagement sessions. Learn more about the Committee’s recommendations here.
