A look ahead for Park City Municipal  

This Week in City Council 

The City Council will meet Thursday, October 24 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. Agenda highlights include: 

 

Resolution to Declare November 2024 Native American History Month in Park City 

Councilmembers will consider a resolution “recognizing the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Indigenous Americans” by declaring November 2024 Native American History Month in Park City. The Resolution will be read by local Park City High School student Ella Ehrich, who worked with Mayor Worel to put it forward. View the Resolution here. Read more about Ella here. 

 

Soil Cover Ordinance Amendments Review 

The Council will review and consider amendments to the Park City Code’s Soil Cover Ordinance. The proposed amendments are part of a concerted effort to renovate the City’s soil remediation regulations as State and Federal policies, technology, and research evolve. View agenda item here. 

 

Resident Parking Permit Discussion 

Councilors will review the City’s Residential Permit Parking Program and consider several recommendations to better manage the allowance of on-street parking in residential permit zones. View agenda item here. 

 

Kimball Art Festival (KAF) and Park Silly Sunday Market (PSSM) Debriefs 

Representatives from both festivals will give their annual debriefs to the Council. The KAF item will include discussion, a public hearing, and possible action to adjust the City Services Agreement based on the impact of dining decks on the festival. View the KAF item here. View PSSM item here.

 

This Week in Planning Commission 

Planning Commission will meet Wednesday, October 23 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. Agenda highlights include: 

  

Code Amendments for Bonanza Park Small Area Plan 

The recently adopted Bonanza Park Small Area requires changes in the Land Management Code to fulfill the project’s objectives. Commissioners will review a set of recommendations assembled by Design Workshop, the City’s consultant on this matter, outlining code changes needed to implement the Plan. View agenda item here. 

 

Park and Kearns Master Planned Development  

The Park and Kearns applicants will present their plans for a proposed mixed-use Master Planned Development for the DoubleTree Hotel (formerly Yarrow) property. View agenda item here. 

 

Robbins Annexation Possible Action 

Commissioners will review the petition to annex a 0.94-acre parcel within the Thaynes Canyon neighborhood from unincorporated Summit County into Park City to develop one single-family dwelling and affordable accessory apartment. They will conduct a public hearing and consider forwarding the item to the City Council for their review. View agenda item here. 

 

Please Note: Deer Valley Snow Park Update Special Meeting Next Week 

Deer Valley Resort’s development team will present their revised transportation plans for the Deer Valley Snow Park Village Base Area Development in a special meeting of the Planning Commission on Wednesday, October 30 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.

DEADLINE APPROACHING! We Need You to Help Update Our General Plan! 

As part of the General Plan process, Park City Municipal seeks resident volunteers to establish 10 Neighborhood Advisory Committees that will help facilitate neighborhood meetings, gather input, and encourage quality engagement. The General Plan is the community-driven blueprint that shapes the future of Park City. The current effort to update the plan provides an opportunity to identify how Park City should evolve, grow, and develop in the coming decade and beyond. 

To apply, email planning@parkcity.org with the following information by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25: 

  • Name and address
  • Whether you are a full-time or part-time resident.
  • Number of years you have lived in Park City.
  • What interests you in serving on your Neighborhood Advisory Committee?

Attend the Bonanza Park EPA Brownfield Funding Community Meeting 

Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 6:00-7:00 p.m.| City Council Chambers (or virtual see link for details) 

Park City is seeking public comment on its draft application to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Brownfields Cleanup Grant. The City is applying for the grant to request funding for soil remedial activities in the Bonanza Park 5-acre Site located at 1665 Bonanza Drive. For more meeting information on go here.
