Register Now for a Zero Waste Food Container

Post Date:09/15/2022 4:41 PM

Park City, Utah - Park City Municipal has opened registration for a reusable takeout container pilot program to launch next month. The City’s Sustainability team is partnering with the innovative packaging company Bold Reuse to pilot this zero-waste program in hopes of future expansion. Recycle Utah is also joining the effort by providing education and outreach about the program to residents and local restaurants.

“Park City has committed to being net-zero carbon by 2030. To accomplish this, we must explore zero-waste solutions at every scale,” said Environmental Sustainability Manager Luke Cartin. “This program will provide an excellent alternative to wasteful single-use food containers, and we are excited to see it in action.”

Starting today, customers can sign up through the website or mobile app for $10. Subscribers will be able to order at a participating restaurant, let staff know that they have a Bold Reuse subscription, and receive their order in a zero-waste container. Customers can deposit used containers off at designated drop boxes where the boxes will be picked up and prepped for re-use.

Participating restaurants include Deer Valley Grocery Café, GuestHaus, Salt Box, Este Pizza, Savoury Kitchen, and Shabu.

The pilot program will launch October 1st with subscriptions capped at 150 users. Registration is open today. Interested residents can sign up here.
