How can I support my child in their skating?
Be on time and prepared for your lessons, encourage your skater to practice and be positive! If your child enters a competition or joins a team, remember to teach them good sportsmanship regardless of the result - and practice it yourself.
Which instructor is right for my child?
Some things to look for in a coach are personality,
teaching style, teaching experience, skating background, and technical
know-how. We have several great instructors available. Please view our Private Lessons flyer for more information about our private instructors.
We
recommend coming to watch the instructors in action as they teach other
students to see the various teaching styles in action. Another important consideration when choosing
an instructor is their compatibility with your schedule. If you have questions
when selecting an instructor you may also contact Skating Academy Director,
Erika Roberts at eroberts@parkcity.org.
When should I hire a private instructor for my child or myself?
Private lessons can be arranged at any time for any age or level.
If my child is taking lessons, how often should he/she practice?
Skaters should practice twice as much as they have lessons.
How does my child get into a competition?
Skaters need to take private lessons to get a program for competition. The coach will provide all necessary information.
