PCMC is currently constructing eight affordable homes on a city-owned plot in Lower Park Avenue. Two of the eight homes--1450 and 1460 Park Avenue--are historic miner's cottages that are being preserved. The other six are new construction. Two of the units will be 750-square-foot one-bedroom homes; five will be 1,120-square-foot two-bedroom homes; one will be a 1,350 three-bedroom home. This project is an important step in the city's ambitious housing goal: City Council has identified affordable and attainable housing as one of its three critical priorities, and has set the goal of building 800 new affordable units by 2026.
