Post Date:05/17/2018 9:15 AM
"We are asking local artists and residents to help beautify our streetscapes—using public utility boxes as their canvas," said Park City Mayor Andy Beerman. "Transforming these everyday objects into artwork also helps advance the city's investments in arts and culture, while also calling attention to our critical priority of environmental sustainability and energy conservation. I am excited about this partnership project and look forward to reviewing the submissions from our community.”

PCMC seeks two-dimensional artwork that addresses taking action to reduce our carbon footprint through renewable power sources, cleaner transportation, recycling and reuse, maintaining natural environment, water and energy conservation.

Jenny Diersen. Special Events Manager at Park City stated, “Anyone can submit artwork to be considered - local artist, students, and community members. We are excited to see the images that our community submits and how they are inspired by our Energy and Sustainability practices. Those interested can submit any 2D images – painting, drawing, photography, or mixed media.” Ten selected artist(s)/teams will receive a onetime, four hundred dollar ($400.00) honorarium for the use of their artwork on utility boxes throughout Park City, which will be installed by the end of the summer.

Simultaneously, Park City seeks proposals from printing companies to recreate the images selected as printed wraps and install the images on 10 utility boxes throughout town. The Call for Artists for utility box artwork closes on Friday, June 1, 2018 at midnight (11:59 p.m.) MST. The Request for Proposals for printing services closes on Friday, May 25, 2018 at midnight.
