Thousands ‘Ride On’ Park City’s Winter Transit and Carpool Push

Park City, Utah – Park City’s Ride On Winter Commuter Rewards Campaign, powered by a network of more than 3,300 participants, reduced single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) trips throughout Park City by shifting 26,000 trips to public transit or carpooling.

Launched in 2019, Ride On Park City is an online platform designed to transform daily commuting habits in Park City. Supported by platforms like CommuteTracker, Strava, and Waze, participating members can plan, track, and log their trips to earn prizes. The Winter Commuter Rewards Campaign is one of several events the program holds throughout the year to help locals and employees reduce their SOV trips and mitigate traffic and congestion.

From December 2024 to April 2025, Park City participants logged 350,639 miles without relying on SOVs, reducing congestion and traffic including during peak times and holidays. Taken together, these efforts also saved commuters an estimated $100,000 in costs related to SOV use.

Ride On serves as a powerful tool for employers large and small to encourage alternative commuting among their employees. This round Park City Mountain, Deer Valley Resort, and the Park City Chamber were the top three employer networks – with Park City Municipal finishing fourth.

“Working together with our businesses, we continue to see positive momentum in our local resident and employee commuting patterns,” said City Manager Matt Dias. “Every trip logged in this challenge represents a conscientious choice to help lessen traffic and congestion in our community. I’m particularly proud to report that 193 Park City Municipal employees participated, logging more than 1,500 trips this winter, equating to a total of 36,600 miles of vehicle travel removed from our roads.”
