Park City Municipal Corporation Seeks Arguments For and Against the Park City Recreation General Obligation Bond

PARK CITY, Utah (September 6, 2023) – Before the November 21, 2023, Municipal Election, Park City Municipal Corporation encourages Park City residents to submit arguments (for or against) the Park City Recreation General Obligation Bond.

Under Utah law, an eligible Park City voter must file a request to provide an argument (for or against the Park City Recreation General Obligation Bond) with the Park City Municipal Election Officer 65 days before the Municipal Election. The deadline for filing this request is September 18, 2023, by 5:00 p.m. The Park City Municipal Election Officer will select one voter who requested to submit an argument in favor of the bond and one who requested to submit an argument against the bond.

The voters selected by the Park City Municipal Election Officer to submit an argument for or against the bond must submit their respective arguments to the Park City Municipal Election Officer at least 60 days before the Municipal Election or by September 22, 2023, by 5:00 p.m. The argument must be limited to 500 words and must be accompanied by the eligible voter's name, residential address, postal address, email address, if available, and phone number.

The Park City Municipal Election Officer must, within one business day after receiving both arguments, send via email a copy of the argument in favor of the ballot proposition to the eligible voter who submitted the argument against the ballot proposition, and a copy of the argument against the ballot proposition to the eligible voter who submitted the argument for the ballot proposition. Those voters may then submit a rebuttal argument containing no more than 250 words to the Park City Municipal Election Officer no later than 45 days before the election date, or October 9, 2023, by 5:00 p.m.

These arguments will be posted online and read at the public meeting where the bond will be discussed.

Requests to provide Park City Recreation General Obligation Bond arguments must be filed with the Park City Municipal Election Officer by September 18, 2023, by 5:00 p.m. Those requests should be submitted in writing by email to michelle.kellogg@parkcity.org or by mail or in person to:
