Park City Municipal Corporation Statement on the Passing of Judge Robert Hilder

Judge Robert Hilder exemplified a principal near and dear to my core beliefs as a person, as a father and a husband, and as a public official - evolution of perspective. Robert never let any singular perspective nor political ideology define his legal or personal analysis. Robert didn’t just deal with change, he seized it. Robert took advantage of every life opportunity to grow, to better himself, his family, his practice, and his community. His multitude of life experience allowed that evolving perspective to “judge” and counsel with atypical fairness and empathy. This character strength, combined with his love for the law, also made him an extremely skilled mediator and, for far too short a time, an elected public servant. I hope the Park City and Summit County communities will join me in committing to honor his legacy by embracing today’s and future challenges of local governance with the grace, professionalism and compassion that Robert embraced throughout his life.
